Premiere: Highkey Random Drops Trippy Visuals for “Paris”

Highkey Random is equal parts energy and enigma and that dichotomy translates into his music and visuals. The Boston rapper just blessed us with a video for his single “Paris”, a bouncy af track that’s perfect for blunt smoking in the summertime.

Highkey and his crew take over Cambridge in the visuals, appearing in recognizable spots like Harvard University and the Harvard Commons. When you think about it, this in itself is a statement and a revolutionary act. Cambridge has become one of the most gentrified areas in Massachusetts- you definitely don’t see rap videos being filmed on Harvard campus, ever. It’s dope to see Highkey reclaim space that was meant for us in this video. You’ll get some of Highkey’s notable comedic elements in “Paris”- for most of the video, he’s sporting a hairdresser smock with his dreads underneath a cap as they bleach. While the video is pretty straight forward, the angle tilts, filters and motion graphics add a trippy, other wordly element to the visuals that fit perfectly with Highkey’s sound. HKR is joined by fellow rapper, Jovian Marshon.

In a recent interview we did with Highkey, he mentioned that he’s dropping a new project soon. While we wait, check out the video for “Paris” and get hip to the musical bomb that is Highkey Random.
