The best way to describe Sir Locksley’s (@LocksleyWins) new project Greening is brilliantly raw. The member of the Jungle Club collective is unrepentant in his Hip Hop in a world where people are chasing pop success. He may still get that success though. Some cats are raw because they haven’t matured and mastered their craft. They are raw because they don’t know how not to be. Locksley is purposeful in his choices. So when it sounds wild and out of control that is exactly what the MC known for his battles was going for. And what he is going for is aggressive rhymes with crushing beats that feel like they want to rip your soul out of your chest. Still you can hear the polish on “Good” and “Zombies”, two of the album’s highlights. But even then its the overall hit you in a head with a steel beam vibe of the project that wins here. If you love the raw sound of the 90’s with the frantic energy of today, Greening is for you.
