This year Maysles Cinema hosted the 3rd Annual Black Panther Party Film Festival again in Harlem, New York. Over the span of a few days, attendees learn about the political activism of the Black Panther Party through documentaries, archived footage, and rarely seen images. From 1966-1982, the Black Panther Party organized, revolutionized, and fought for struggle, freedom, and equality for all.
This is my second year attending and I’m always in awe of the energy in the room, sitting among former Panthers and from the documentaries and paraphernalia at my fingertips. Check out my reviews here, of the two films I saw, courtesy of The R’ebel Mag, . Let me know what you think.
The festival ends Saturday October 8th. Click here for more information on the film festival schedule.
