Talib Kweli put his boots on the ground and headed to Ferguson, MO in the wake of the death of Michael Brown. While in Ferguson, Talib went on CNN to speak with Don Lemon and the convo took a turn to the network’s coverage of the events in the town.
“I feel like it was important for me to be here and control the narrative, because the media has been doing a horrible job of making sure the stories get out,” Talib said.
Things got heated between Lemon and Kweli as the BKMC took the network to task for bending the facts. Kweli spoke on his own experience of seeing CNN depict the peaceful protests incorrectly. The interview wound up on a much more civil note with the two of them deciding that the focus needed to be on the issues at hand. Check the heated exchange for yourself below.
