Add El Presidente to Pusha T’s list of potential nicknames as the rapper takes the helm of Kanye West’s Def Jam imprint G.O.O.D. Music.
According to a report from Billboard Magazine the Virginia native will be joined by his manager Steven Victor who will take over as the head of A&R.

Talks of him taking the leadership role at G.O.O.D. Music began with a phone call from West. “I was flying home and I had just got into my car at the airport,” Pusha explains in a phone interview, “‘Ye had called me and he was like, “Tell me something. What do you think about being the president of G.O.O.D. Music?” And I was like, “Well, what are the things that you’re looking for?” And he was basically just like, to manicure the label, make it profitable and be very business-oriented about it going forward in a manicured type of way.”

Pusha takes over the role from producer Che Pope to lead a roster that includes Q-Tip, Teyana Taylor, Big Sean and Kacy Hill. During the interview he also hinted at a sequel to Cruel Summer being on his “mood board”.

One of the releases that Pusha Ton will be overseeing is his own. The long-awaited King Push is shaping up to be a classic according to the rapper. “My album is just a whole other thing in all honesty. F’real, what you’re gonna get from this King Push album is something people probably haven’t heard in the past 18 years. I’m just putting it together, aiming for classic material.
