Lil Jon been in the game for a minute. Most people know him from his crunk anthems in the early 00’s or as the inspriation for Chappelle’s comedy gold. But before that he had another life as a record executive. While at the Arsenio Hall Show he spoke on how he broke into the game corteousy of Jermaine Dupri.

JD, who was sitting in with Arsenio’s band all week, hired him as an A&R for his newly formed SoSo Def Records. During his seven years with the label he helped put together many hits including the million seller “My Boo.” Now Jon is back on the charts with another party anthem “Turn Down For What” some 11 years after his biggest hits.

Watch as Jon and JD take a trip down memory lane after the jump.
