Kaytranada and Anderson Paak. are two creative innovators who are changing the structure of conventional music. Their collaboration on Paak,’s project Malibu called “Lite Weight” was a blissful track that still makes me cry when played, but their newest track is much more of a trip.
“Glowed Up” is a little more fast paced than “Lite Weight”, and being that it’s for Kaytranada’s 99% LP, it sounds a lot more like Kaytranada’s style. The way these two can create different sounds so well allows them to strive and be successful within different platforms. With Paak. now being signed to Dr Dre and Kaytranada having a project on the way, their new content will only reach more and more listeners as they move forward.
The May 6th release for the 99% LP is a project that speaks to all up and coming producers. Producers have been hidden in the shadows of artists for too long, and with beat makers such as Kaytranada and collectives like Soulection creating amazing content at the rate they do, it’s only a matter of time before we start to truly appreciate producers as we should. It’s simple music videos like the one for “Glowed Up” which features the song owner and producer Kaytranada as the subject of the video that will push the producer culture forward.
