Last night, M2M Studios in New York City held their 2013 showcase featuring various upcoming indie pop, funk, rock, and R&B artists.

The line up included Kuumba Freeque, Houston’s Top Indie Funk/Soul Rock Band and semi-finalists of Houston’s Got Talent, who really brought soul to the word music. Playing a few original tracks, Kuumba Freeque also paid tribute to New York, singing and performing a rendition of “Spanish Harlem.”

Shortly following was 18 year-old pop singer and songwriter Chidima, who won Houston’s Got Talent and whose voice was reminiscent of Jennifer Hudson in her American Idol days. Boy could she sing.

The last two solo performances were a family affair including sister, Brett Gay and father, Rudy Gay of 70s group Ace Spectrum, to NBA player, Rudy Gay. Performing original tracks of her own, Brett pulled out all the stops.

It was a close intimate setting where attendees really got to feel the vibe.
