‘Dear White People’ Gets October Release Date

Justin Simien’s comedy Dear White People was the talk of the Sundance Film Festival. The Ivy League satire has made the rounds on the festival circuit and now has a release date. No word on the amount of screens it will be on when it hits on October 17 but the buzz on this film is strong.

The film, which follows 4 students on the campus of the fictional Ivy “Manchester College”, gives a nod or two to Spike Lee. And it looks like it works well. Well enough for Simien to be awarded the Sundance’s U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Talent for his directorial effort. “Dear White People looks smart and funny; a rare combination these days.
