After making a pretty controversy free trip to Power for a talk with the Breakfast Club, Kanye sits down with long time friend Sway on his Shade 45 Morning Show. Sounds like the rrecipe for a softball interview right? Not so fast.
Things went left when Sway asked Ye about why he didn’t just strike out on his own instead of looking for backing from the established fashion industry. Kanye took umbrage at Sway seeming to offer him advice on the fashion biz. “You ain’t got the answers Sway!” screamed Ye. “You ain’t spent 13 million dollars of your own money trying to empower yourself!” After a second or two cooler heads prevailed and the got back to regular business. In another life Sway must have been a hostage negotiator because he quickly talked the G.O.O.D. Music leader from a full confrontation into a conversation that covered everything from why he signed a deal with Adidas, his early production influences, making DONDA the “post-internet Disney”, relinquishing his shine to Nicki Minaj and why A Tribe Called Quest is the pinnacle of Hip Hop.
