Bobby V Talks Peach Moon, Going Back to Love, and Learning the Piano

Peach Moon EP cover

From breaking out into a solo career back in 2005 with his hit single, “Slow Down”, Bobby V became a household name in R&B.  After releasing Dusk Till Dawn last October, Bobby felt like something was missing. In between touring and working on his new EP, Peach Moon, Bobby V made time to dish on details about the recording process, learning to play the piano, and what the “Back to Love” movement is really all about.

Read excerpts of our interview below and listen to it in full.

Georgette Pierre: What has changed for you musically and artistically since releasing Dusk Till Dawn?

Bobby V: I feel like I got to a point in my career where I’m just tired of doing the norm. Once you gain notoriety and once you gain success, so many people have opinions on what you should do musically and what you should do as an artist. I’m still trying to do quality music. With me, it’s quality over quantity all the time but still want to do something that everybody else is not doing but still something that I’m going to love at the end of the day.

GP: In your new video, you’re playing the keys. Is that something we should get used to?

BV: Definitely get used to it. Me and my band touring is where this whole project came from. I’ve been playing the piano for a year and a half. I’ve been taking piano lessons. My music director in my band, he’s classically trained to give me piano lessons. I’ve always played around on the piano but never really knew how to play.

GP: Since we last spoke on my radio show, has the love bug hit you yet?

BV: I get bit by the love bug all the time. You know there’s so many beautiful young ladies in the world and I get bit, I just got to find the right catch.
