The Rebirth Of A KillerBoomBox

“Bro! This party is the BEST!!!”

A major part of creativity is vision. Someone once said that the writer creates the world he wants to see. And nothing could be truer. As we stood in the Newbury Street pop up shop Green Street Jungle at the invite of the good brothers of the Annie Mulz lifestyle brand, it felt like a mission accomplished. Our team of Killers challenged ourselves to find the best way to debut our site’s new look and bring people together while having fun. Our friends from entertainment, fashion, business and even a few politicos all rocked out in the name of KillerBoomBox. Our guy DJ Real P had the people moving. Models partied with a few corporate thugs. Educators two stepped with fashion designers. We had great live performances from Amandi Music and Easy Money. Termanology left his recording sessions for his new album in NY to be a special surprise guest and show us love. Deep Eddy Vodka was in the place to introduce their incredible sweet tea flavored elixir to the gods of fun. Our guy Zach from Narragansett Beer held us down with the high quality suds. Some of the most beautiful people in the city were having some good ol fashion fun. The Urban entertainment world was all peacefully coexisting. Red solo cups and a room temperature just north of what the Devil’s living room must feel like had it like a college party/family reunion. Our worlds were colliding in the best way possible. Cats made connections and had a good time. In that room we saw the physical version of what we want KillerBoomBox to be. As Mr. Nasir Jones new album tells us, Life Is Good.

Until about 4:00 PM the next day. We received a Cease and Desist letter from an artist. No problem. That’s standard course when dealing in today’s landscape of music and new media. But this guy sends it to our hosting company as well. Some extra nervous character over there pulled our plug without notifying us before we had a chance to settle it on our own. So in the midst of our push to show off our sexy new look, after riding the high of a great debut and basking in an ocean of Jill Scott meets Oprah level positivity these rat bastard bums shut us down without a word the day after our relaunch. To paraphrase the modern poet that is 2 Chainz, they trying to assassinate our character. They trying to assassinate our swag. And it couldn’t have happened at a better time.

See, timing is everything. I interviewed Ledisi the day of our party. She went through a great deal of adversity career wise. An industry that wants a new Cassie or Ciara to fit the preconceived mold of what a star is can be truly a bitch when you’re not that. I asked how she maintained her positive outlook in the face of what felt like insurmountable odds. She chalked it up to faith and fierce determination to fulfill her mission in life to bring good to people. The goal is the most important. So you deal with the bumps and move on till you get it done. That’s kinda Killer. In fact that’s EXACTLY Killer. We want to create a world of dopeness in urban entertainment by bringing it to you in all its forms. We’re trying to be your gateway to good. That’s the mission. Funny how the world works.

Sometimes if you shut up you can hear the exact answer you need. Wallowing in your complaints just might drown out your solutions. So I shut up and listened to the jewel that Ledisi will probably never know she dropped on me. Ledisi’s words kept me from a Def-Con level 98 spazz session.

Trust and believe that if I could have crawled through the internet and strangled someone to get our site back up quicker, it might have went down. This higher power loving, calm as a yogi on his third Sweet Tea Deep Eddy version of G. Valentino Ball is a work in progress. I’m a work in progress just like KillerBoomBox. We are back on deck. Everything is good. In fact it’s better than good. It’s Killer. So pardon our interruption. One bump in the road ain’t stopping us. In fact it just made us realize just how much harder we have to work. So all you Freqs go click around and check the new digs. Lets us know what you think.

G!
