DJ/Producer Statik Selektah leader has been doing his part to keep boom bap alive. From handling a good chunk of the production on Joey Bada$$’s project to his gold-selling work with Eminem on “Detroit VS. Everybody” and his label’s latest release of Ea$y Money’s debut album “The M.O.N.E.Y.”, Statik has been putting in work. And now that he has shared the wealth with his people its his time to drop a heater for himself.
His new single “A Beautiful Life” has him along side Action Bronson and the Badmon. The usual heads aren’t the only one’s feeling it either. “Life” has been ringing off on all the evening mixshows including Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex. Statik posted on his Facebook page and shared his feeling’s on his DJing inspiration rocking the song on-air.
“20 years ago I heard Funk Flex live on Hot 97 and decided that’s what I wanted to do with my life. Just now on Hot 97 he played my new single for 15 minutes straight and said “if dr Dre & dj premier had a brother it would be Dj Statik Selektah”. Truly blessed and humbled. Single on iTunes at midnight. It’s a “Beautiful Life”. Indeed.”
