Y’all, I’m on a high this week. First off, it’s my birthday…the weather is finally on some act right… my manchild crush recently dropped a surprise album…it doesn’t get any better than this.
My favorite song this week by far is “Shit” (said in my Clay Davis voice) a smoothed out remix of the Future joint. There are a few other unexpected remixes on deck. RAC gives Miguel’s “Waves” a pop flip, and both Kanye’s “I Love Kanye” and Redman’s “Funkorama” get more soul.
There are some familiar faces in the mix. Foreverbae, aka Lianne La Havas, returns to her beautifully simple just a girl and her guitar style with “Fairytale”. Dres of Black Sheep drops bars on jazz infused “Flight (Energy)”, while Royce the 5’9 takes you to church with “Tabernacle”. I also like to slide in cuts by artists who aren’t as well known. Etta Bond’s “bad for me” tells a familiar story of what happens when you follow your heart (or other body parts) instead of your head.
