I walked into the club, unsure of what to expect. To the left, a dark room with people roaming in and out, blasting music that I couldn’t help but nod my head to. The bar was straight ahead, so I grabbed a glass of liquid courage before heading in.
There were people on the floor dancing like they didn’t have a care in the world. Other folks were scattered about, some talking, some laughing, some like me just taking it all in. I made my way through the crowd and settled near a post with a view of the stage.
One by one each DJ took their place in front of the turntables. There were clearly crowd favorites- the dynamic was fascinating. If you did well as the DJ, you had to figure out how to keep everyone moving. If you struggled, you had to figure out what song would get the party started.
I’m not gonna lie, there was plenty of music played that I had never heard. I spent a good portion of the night asking G. “What’s the name of that song? “Who sings this?” I think his confidence in me was shook just a teeny little bit.
Fast forward a month later and I think I’ll be much better prepared for the next #WorkoutKBX. I’ve been listening to all the music, and I’ve gathered some of it here, especially for you.
