Rap Beefs used to be compelling tales of shady business practices, groupie love gone wrong and egos unchecked. Now it just much ado about not a damn thing. In Hip Hop’s latest episode of Nobody Wins, we have R&B singer and reality TV star, Ray J going at rapper and Twitter savant Fabolous.
It all started over a couple jokes and a love song. On an episode of “24/7” Floyd Mayweather while hanging out with Ray asked him to play a couple songs. In classic Money Mayweather fashion, it was a stunting move to show his status. On some “You peons play CD’s in the crib. I have actual concerts.” On the show Ray J is singing his ballad, “One Wish”. Not exactly the best look to be singing love songs in your mans and thems crib. Which is where Fab jumps in the fray with a few jokes on Twitter. Nothing too crazy, just a few light hearted jabs. Then comes fight night. According to Fab it was all gravy when he intially saw Ray J. They shared a few more jokes and Ray J showed he has a sense of humor. Fast forward to later in the night and a pushing match pops off when Ray J tries to register his complaint about the same jokes he allegedly was just laughing at. You waste time reading this. I waste time writing it. And the world keeps turning.
As a fan of comedy though, this is a wellspring. On the low Fab might be a halfway comic genius. Without the hysterics of Ray J’s rant, he delivered comic gold at every turn. Check the technique. With Fab youre laughing with him. While Ray J has you laughing AT him. (his tales of having man rape specialists on deck is too much to bear).
