J Dilla is one of those rare musical forces that continues to shape and form modern music, even years after his death. His production style has become nothing short of legendary and the lasting impact he’s had on music is celebrated every year during the multitude of Dilla tributes that span across the globe. In a way, Dilla has become a musical deity and his work has become gospel for those of us who can appreciate his meticulous, in depth production style.

Earlier this year, a post mortem project of Dilla’s dropped called The Diary. “The Sickness” was one of the two exclusive tracks on the album- the song features a beat by Madlib with lyrical flows by Nas and Dilla layered on top. Today Mass Appeal dropped a video for “The Sickness”- the visuals are a kaleidoscope of colors overlaid with images and video of Nas and Dilla. Ruffmercy, who directed the video, did a dope job of bringing the late Dilla to life and incorporating that old school feel into the visuals. Check it out below.
