Watch John Legend and Common perform Best Original Song Glory on the Oscars

John Legend and Common picked up some new hardware for the crib after a tear-inducing performance at last night’s Oscars. The duo grabbed the Academy Award for Best Original Song for their work from the Selma soundtrack. Legend eloquently talked about the relevance of the song from the Dr. martin Luther King Jr. biopic.

“We wrote this song for a film that was based on events that were 50 years ago, but we say that Selma is now because the struggle for justice is right now,” Legend explained to the audience.”We live in the most incarcerated country in the world. There are more black men under correctional control today than were under slavery in 1850. When people are marching with our song, we want to tell you, ‘We are with you. We see you. We love you. And march on.’”

After their win Common and Legend spoke to the press on being honored. See their memorable performance above.
