Tupac Amaru Shakur rose to become one of the most everlasting and influential voices in Hip Hop and in American culture. To this day, we can still see his voice and his message. In our music, in our fight against injustice and in our spirit. Although Tupac may be gone (along with his mother, who passed away earlier this year), he will never be forgotten.
Tupac was born on June 16th in 1971, months after his pregnant mother, Afeni Shakur, represented herself in court against Federal conspiracy charges and won. Tupac would live out his life in the same vein in which he was brought into the world- filled with determination, perseverance and victory.
Before her death, Afeni Shakur was heavily involved in the production of an upcoming biopic about her son’s life and his death. “All Eyez On Me” follows Tupac’s start in NYC, his move to California and his subsequent rise to fame. Demetrius Shipp, Jr. looks uncannily like Tupac and the very talented Danai Gurira will play Afeni Shakur. Watch the trailer that dropped today below- hopefully, it’ll give you goosebumps.
