Benzino spoke from his hospital bed on the shooting saying he was “embarrassed more than anything else” by the attack that he suffered during his mother’s funeral procession this past Saturday (March 29). Surrounded by friends and family in his hospital room he spoke with TheNEHipHop.com detailing his injuries and explained that while having been shot in the arm and grazed in the back he was “alright.”
The Boston native and “Love & Hip Hop” reality show star was shot and taken to the hospital while he was in the Boston-area to attend his mother’s home-going service. The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office has said that his assailant pulled up and shot him from another vehicle while taking part in the funeral procession on Route 3 in Duxbury, Massachusetts. He was transported to a local hospital where he is being treated for non-fatal injuries. Official have charged his nephew, Gai Scott with the shooting.
Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz said,
“The incident was between two vehicles whose occupants knew each other. The driver of a Bentley shot the driver of a red Dodge SUV, who exited his car and was taken to the Duxbury police station by a passerby. The injured red Dodge SUV driver, who officials say was in his 40s, was then transported by ambulance to the hospital.The Bentley driver has been arrested and will be arraigned Monday on a charge of armed assault with intent to murder.”
In a separate interview with the Boston Globe he thanked Duxbury firefighters who aided him. “Those guys were super, super nice and helpful,” he said. “I was in pain, and they were trying to keep me calm.”
