Shawn Caliber Gives Us “No More Excuses” With New Track

Shawn Caliber has one of those lyrical styles and flows that constantly remind us that he’s not just any emcee. The Harlem rapper always takes his lyrics to the next level by digging deeper into both himself and hip-hop as a genre- his new track “No More Excuses Pt.2:Key Player” is not only Caliber’s anthem of self motivation but a call to his fans to go after what they want in life.

Nef Ryder provides the perfect musical background for Shawn’s flows. The piano gives the track that essential sense of drama that’s become part of Shawn Caliber’s M.O. By pairing the theatrical keys with what sounds like a boom bap pattern on the drums and some melodic vocals in the background, Nef Ryder musically props up Shawn’s message of self-reflection and determination. The rapper reminds us that in life there are “no more excuses” and that he can “admit responsibility/ I’m taking the blame for doubting my own abilities” when it came to acknowledging his talent. He stopped relying on others and “became my engineer/ cause to keep waitin’ and blamin’ y’all would be insincere”. The entire track is a testament to being honest with yourself every day, when it comes to going after what you want.

Shawn Caliber is currently working with Boston’s own Versatyle on their “Tag Team” project- the duo already have two other tracks together, “Running Away” and “Send Em In”. “Tag Team” will be out sometime this year. In the meantime, heed Caliber’s message and check out “No More Excuses Pt.2” below.
