When working on this list, I rarely go in knowing what I’m going to do. I don’t have any predetermined ideas of any particular artists or genres of music. Sometimes I’ll see a write-up for a song from various websites that I follow. Sometimes I’ll have a friend recommend something. Sometimes I’ll just run through SoundCloud until something sticks with me.
This week’s list seems to be all over the board, but in the best way possible. There is a bit of UK hip-hop (see Jay Prince’s “Homecoming/ Love is”, Dreamclub’s “Rather B”); some trap (check out SAINt JHN’s “1999” and Young Thug’s “Digits”), songs with funk and soul (Hoecake’s “She Said”, SAÍGO’s “So Natural”, Children of the Corner’s “trouble”), and songs that represent the highs (Daye Jack’s “Finish Line”) and lows (KH.I.RY’s “Pray”) of life.
