Boston’s own DJ Guru Sanaal has blessed us with her first fire mix for Plusmood radio, “Gurul Sanaal Vol. 1”. Sanaal, a self proclaimed lover of old school ’90s R&B, wove her admiration for the era all throughout the mix- she perfectly captures the nostalgia for the old days while showing appreciation for the new. It starts off with a TRAPSOUL vibe with “Exchange” by Bryson Tiller- from there Sanaal seamlessly and effortlessly blends the modern and the old school era together.

If you’re a music lover in any way shape or form, this mix is definitely for you. Sanaal goes from classics like A Tribe Called Quest’s “Bonita Applebum” to Kaytranada’s funky, synth heavy remix of Snakehips “On & On”. There’s a dope TLC “No Scrubs” sample that’s transformed into a jazzy, neo-soul track while the chords from Toto’s “Africa” shine through some futuristic synths and hi hats later on in the mix. Want some baby making music? Sanaal’s got some Maxwell, Aaliyah, Groove Theory and Faith Evans for you. Looking for rap? Jay Z’s “Can’t Knock The Hustle” is one of the highlights of the hour long mix. DJ Guru Sanaal touches all the bases with this release and we can’t wait to see what Vol. 2 looks like when it drops.
