It hasn’t been long since Lion Babe dropped their debut album, Begin, but the duo is already back and ready to give us some brand new summer listening material. The last time we heard from them, we were rocking to Kitty Cash’s remix of their dope track “Jungle Lady”. “Endless Summer” is our first peek into their upcoming mixtape Sun Joint.
This track is an infectious ear full of crisp claps, guitar and Jillian Harvey’s lilting vocals, enhanced with some warm and florid harmonies. It sounds like there may be some traditional Caribbean percussion instruments like the claves or palitos that contribute their sharp, hollow sound to the hip swinging rhythm. Lyrically, “Endless Summer” is a testament to the power of keeping the sun in mind as you move forward and away the darkness that may’ve enveloped you before. In this track, summer is the start of new beginnings.
