Future Sounds: 5 Future R&B Singers to Swoon to + Future Sounds Vol. 3

swoon-o

As the homie Chris Tucker demonstrated so eloquently in the above gif, swooning is the way to true happiness. We’re halfway through summer and the fall and new school year is quickly approaching. Some people would like to get an early start on cuffing season and I can’t even blame them with all the women I’ve seen this summer, sheesh. This is why i’m here to help. Whether you want to get a cuffing head start or you just enjoy new R&B that gets you in the mood, I created a list of the top 10 future R&B singers that will help you swoon the bae of your dreams (or at least the upcoming fall and winter). This list has some familiar names and some brand new ones, so get your music discovery on and enjoy:

1. BANKS

Name: Banks

Location: Los Angeles

Vibe: That moment when you come out the shower with just a towel on and bae is half asleep but still ready

I’m honestly still not 100% sold on all of Banks’ music but she definitely got some jams worth checking out. She announced a fall tour and it sold out within days without a major label debut out yet so the people are definitely feeling her. With huge remixes from Snakehips, Shlohmo, Kaytranada, & many more, she has established herself as the leading “it girl” of future R&B for the moment. Her debut album “Goddess” set to drop on September 14th will  answer all questions.

Must Listens: “Waiting Game” (Kaytranada Edition), “This Is What It Feels Like”, “Goddess”

2. MNEK

Name: MNEK

Location: London

Vibe: That moment when you try molly for the first time before you walk into a day glow party

MNEK is one of my favorite R&B artists right now. His voice is undeniable and he isn’t afraid to take risks. He exploded on the scene when he was the vocalist on Gorgon City’s “Ready For Your Love”. After that he has been hitting us with great original music and has even dropped a video for his smash hit “Wrote A Song About You”. While his buzz is steadily growing in the UK, I can’t wait for this 19 year old to cross over to the US like so many other popular UK artists before him.

Must Listen: “Every Little Word”, “Magic” [Coldplay Cover], “White Noise” (Full Crate & FS Green Remix)

3. Majid Jordan

Name: Majid Jordan

Location: Toronto

Vibe: That moment when you DM a shorty you’ve been following and she gives you the number

I first got put on to Majid Jordan by my homie Seun. From then on it was a wrap. I automatically knew this dude was on a different level. Not only does he have the OVO Drake co-sign but he really could make great music. He reminds me of Jai Paul (still waiting endlessly on that project though). Either way, Majid is going to be someone to watch in the future due to his versatility and talent.

Must Listen: “Hold Tight”, “Chill Pad Deluxe”

4. Reva Devito

 Name: Reva Devito

Location: Portland

Vibe: That moment when you’re at the bar and you make eye contact with shorty with the bubble

Reva Devito may be from Portland but has the future R&B sound mastered like she grew up in the London streets. Her versatile voice could make you want to dance or take your pants off (or both). Rumors that she planned to drop a full EP with Kaytranada set the internet on fire a few months ago. Her debut EP on HW&W is shaping up to be pretty amazing after the two singles “Friday Night” and “babesquad” dropped. Keep an eye out for Reva this fall.

Must Listen: “Friday Night” (prod. by Kaytranada), “Kisses”, “babesquad”

5. Rainy Milo

Name: Rainy Milo

Location: London

Vibe: That moment when you’re at the crib on a rainy day and shorty says she wants to give you a massage (with the baby oil b)

Rainy Milo is a babe first and foremost but she can also sing her ass off. This UK girl has been making her rounds for the past two years and is looking to have a big 2015. She’s been quiet for most of this year until she recently dropped the video for her song “Don’t Regret Me”. Her bittersweet love songs make for great music and I can’t wait to hear more.

Must Listen: “Rats”, “Don’t Regret Me”, “Deal Me Briefly”

Make sure you check out all of these great singers and let them help you ease into cuffing season. If you’re not ready for that then check out the latest edition of Future Sounds featuring jams from EAS, The Code, BNJMN, su na, Mr. Carmack, and more!
