KBX’s Bout To Know is designed to tell you who The Killer Crew believes will be buzzing in the blogosphere in the coming year. Next up is Nas protege, Dave East.

Dave East is one of New York’s up and coming emcees and his Spanish Harlem upbringing has influenced both his content and sound. Early in his career, he fused Caribbean vibes with his aggressive lyricism reflecting the melting pot of cultures in New York. His flow is confident and embodies that New York swagger that is boastful and assertive. His first mixtape that circulated the blogs was Black Rose and singles from the project received radio play on some of New York’s hottest stations including Hot 97, Power 105, Shade 45 and Sirius’ Hip Hop Nation. In additional to the numerous radio stations taking notice, New York’s reigning king, Nas, then signed Dave East to his newly attained Mass Appeal label and mentioned East’s signing on the Angie Martinez show.

This winter, Dave East followed up after the acclaim of his first project with Straight Outta Harlem, a compilation of freestyles over the year’s hottest records as well as original tracks showcasing Dave’s forceful rhymes that ooze with Harlem presence.  “Still” is East’s most viewed visual, closes Straight Outta Harlem and expresses his loyalty to New York no matter his journey to fame. If you’re just tuning in to this Harlem star on the rise, check out his “0-100” freestyle, as he gives Drake a run for his money.
