Real P aka ReaL Politikz is out here trying to do it all.

The leader of the Famous Nobodies crew built a reputation for lively stage shows with his crew also rocks crowds as a club DJ becoming a staple of the club scene in his hometown, Boston, MA. But on his sophomore solo effort as a rapper SameOLeJazz, Real P strikes a balance between intriguing lyricism, smooth musical backgrounds and heartfelt love songs.

You know those introspective artistic album cuts that give you a look at the personality of an rapper but aren’t necessarily supposed to be singles? Yeah this is full of them. Only difference is that Real P does it without being corny or boring. Add to that the fact that does have single worthy joints and he further separates himself from the pack. SameOLeJazz uses jazz as the backdrop to explore lost love, social media fandom and staying inspired in trying times. The Boston native is looking for answers and he skillfully takes listeners along for the journey.

For a guy who spends a good deal of his time orchestrating the turn up activities of the people he makes some thought provoking and introspective chilled out Hip-Hop. “Next Level” featuring Amandi Music is one of the lynchpins of this album. The Roto Tom produced track reunite P with singer/songwriter Amandi for another winner. “Slow Down” explores the lure of fast living and the results of being eyebrow deep on the participants and their loved ones. Soft gunshots echo quietly in the background of the eerie track underscoring the subject matter. On “Hope” he’s trying to get that old thing back on a sensual sounding Latrell James beat. James’ provides the foundation for many of the project’s stand out moments with “Rider” and “Hope.” Real P and Latrell James make a dope combo. Hopefully this is the latest step in a long musical friendship.

Throughout the project the conversational tone of his flow is deceptive because it hides the complexity of his lyrical approach. Because he’s not screaming like he’s on the stage at URL, some may miss the fact that he’s got some bars. Ultimately the challenge for Real Politikz is not making dope and engaging music. He’s got that and more on SameOLeJazz. Now it’s about spreading that dopeness to the world. Let’s hope the world is ready.
