This is everything one has come to expect from the Doppelgangaz, the rap duo from New York that has cemented its place in the independent rap scene. It has been a long journey for the duo. They have opened up for people in nearly every New York City venue possible (I have personally seen them at both Highline Ballroom and SOBs), and they have slowly roped one of the strongest European fan bases in the hip-hop scene with their bizarre style, gritty beats, and serious microphone skills, which they’ve augmented by releasing limited edition vinyl strictly for this market. Don’t let the disease references and inside jokes fool you; they may not rap about rapping, but that doesn’t deprive them of their hip-hop credentials; in fact, it’s been their ability to push beyond that wall that has allowed them to prosper.
“Skin Yarmukle” is off the Doppelgangaz latest release, HARK, available for sale today. It is an incredibly dope body of work.
