I was minding my business as I often do. I swear I was. A friend introduced me to a young lady as part of the team at KBX. After she uttered those dreaded words, “Oh I heard about you.” we sparked up a conversation. As we spoke, I noticed her surprise as I talked about house music and a few other musical things non-hip hop related. It was the kind of surprise that is usually followed by a backhanded compliment like “Oh my you speak so well.” There was enough surprise in her eyes for me to be able to call it out.
“You didn’t think we were just hip hop did you?”
“Well with the name and all…”
“See that’s why you are supposed to read the stuff on KillerBoomBox.com and not just look at the pretty pictures.”
A little jerkish? Yes. Completely inappropriate? Naw buddy. Y’all might have us fxcked up. The most beautifuliest thing about our new Selections (#KBXSelect) feature is the chance to share the variety of goodies that we come across. The good folks of the Killer Crew are about music. Basically if you can’t see our love of all things with a beat then you’re blind. Or more appropriately deaf. We keep our left of center R&B right next to our underground hip hop around these parts. Makes it more interesting that way. We don’t subscribe to boxes over here. Neither should you.
