Bambu is one of the West Coast’s unheralded emcees. A Soul Assassins affiliate, he just put out an album last year called …one rifle per family. The slept-on album had a track called “Lean” that was produced by a high school student named Karman, who is a product of the Sessions LA program. Sessions LA is a youth and student workshop series organized by DJ Phatrick.
A fan of the youngster’s experimental hip-hop sound and styling, Bambu decided to record an entire EP with the producer, putting out what is now known as The Lean Sessions EP. The project is smooth and subdued, perfect for just vibing to, the West Coast emcee choosing to reflect on life and what goes on around him in Los Angeles. Listen to the project below.
