Art Of Music Sessions 1.28.2013 @ Church Boston

Three of the crown jewels of Boston’s Rap scene are embarking on a tour that will take them around several local venues presenting diverse approaches to the artform and discipline of Hip-Hop culture. The three souls I’m speaking of are DL (Daniel Laurent), emcee/vocalist Letia Larok and Dre Robinson, each have been staples of the local scene for at least a decade and they’re spreading the gospel of having integrity and representing the culture of Hip-Hop as well as the wider diaspora of music that influences it. Without the Jamaican DJ culture involving soundclashes where DJ’s and selectors battled for the hearts, minds and ears of the people we never would’ve had Hip-Hop culture stateside. Without the essential R&B/Soul music of the 60’s & 70’s to add to the  influences Kool Herc brought to the South Bronx from Kingston, Jamaica we wouldn’t have Rap. All of these elements will be on display throughout the Art Of Music Sessions as DL, Letia & Dre bridge the gaps and show Hip-Hop’s roots and it’s evolution in association with DJ D. Wiz.

We often accept this current bland version of Hip-Hop/Rap that pervades the airwaves and majority of music networks today (when they do showcase music). These three emcees are going to display the wider range and beauty of the culture we all hold so dearly. If you’re about the same thing, then make sure to show up at the next show on Monday night @ Church Boston located behind Fenway Park @ 28 Kilmanrock St. Doors are at 8. Show begins @ 9 and will be done in plenty of time to get back home to start at the J.O. on Tuesday. I’d like to close with the words of the homie Daniel Laurent himself:

“I wanted to pass this info along as its my vision that I am glad to see coming to fruition and its beautiful! Three of most diverse, lyrical, passionate indie artists on one stage giving their personal interpretation of music. A Wu Tang affiliated DJ that is the conductor of the night reminding you of why you fell in love with the music in the first place! Hip-Hop will, in essence, be having a nourishing dinner and its siblings Rap, R&B and Reggae will all be at the dinner table as well!

This show will be an early show and I mean that, its not a ploy to get you there early. Doors at 8, show at 9, over by 11pm (performance wise) but feel free to hang out listen to music afterwards and have a drink. Hope to see all there”

As do I. Be there. Once again, The Art Of Music Sessions starring DL, Letia Larok & Dre Robinson w/ DJ D. Wiz “Respect The Artform!” 1.28.2013 @ Church Boston $5 ladies $10 Gents. Doors @ 8 PM. Show begins @ 9PM ends @ 11 PM.
